Teresa Marquez is passionate about educating youth and preparing them for life beyond high school.  She has been an educator for 22 years. 

During those 22 years she has been a Math teacher, Associate Principal, Principal, and currently holds the position of Director of Instruction and Professional Development for East Side Union High School District.  She has worked with diverse populations of students, parents, and teachers to provide equitable opportunities for all students and improve the quality of education in East Side San Jose.  Teresa is committed to working with underrepresented and first generation college-going students to increase university eligibility and admission for these students. 

Teresa earned her Bachelor‚Äôs Degree in Mathematics from UC Santa Cruz and her Master‚Äôs in Educational Leadership from San Jose State University.  She comes from a very large family, so she enjoys spending time with family and in particular, her husband and two daughters.  Teresa is interested in learning from the leaders in the various industry sectors and is excited about being part of the Leadership San Jose 2017 class.

Wondering how you can help during this time? Social distancing doesn't mean social isolation. We still need to support the nonprofits in our region who are continuing to provide critical services to the people of our community day and night—ensuring our most vulnerable populations are being housed, fed and cared for. However, they could really use our help in a number of ways: donating extra supplies, offering your time as a volunteer or through any generous donations in order to sustain themselves.
