Ziem Nguyen Neubert is passionate in building an asset-based community of partners to ensure all youth thrive. As Director of School Partnerships for Project Cornerstone, an initiative of the YMCA of Silicon Valley, Ziem leads a team that works with more than 215 school partners to create caring school communities that engage all stakeholders – students, parents, and school staff.

Ziem and her team provide training, programs, and consulting on building strength and resiliency in youth to thousands of adults who regularly touch young people’s lives. With over 20 years of experience in the public school system, Ziem’s educational leadership includes teaching primary and upper grades, and managing programs, staff, and policies as a district coordinator, assistant principal, and principal. Her primary focus was on building strong positive relationships with all stakeholders while producing data-driven results to ensure equity for all students.

Ziem holds a Master of Arts in Education (Administration and Supervision) from San Jose State University, a K-12 Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Music from University of California at Santa Cruz.

Born in Viet Nam and raised in Iowa and California, Ziem loves to cook while exploring ethnic cuisine, take yoga and Pilates classes, and spend time with her family.

Deb and her team work with the community to resolve violations of the Ordinance that protects the creeks and waterways of Santa Clara County. A highly sensitive issue, she brings her background in conflict resolution and human relations to the job on a daily basis. Deb’s favorite part of the work she does is the people and the reward of doing her part to return creek-side land to its natural habitat.
