On Tuesday, June 13 The silicon valley organization watched as 200+ local high school students launched their careers at the San Jose City Hall Rotunda.

More than 100 SVO member businesses were present to interview students to ultimately host them during the summer.

"The view from here is awesome," said President & CEO Matt Mahood during his comments at the kick-off of the event. "For The silicon valley organization, our top priority is economic development and it all starts here by developing the next wave of talented and workforce-ready employees. Strive San Jose's work in connecting industry to our youth is the first step toward building sustainable career pathways for students to attain high-potential jobs here in Silicon Valley. A message for today's students: a paid internship is just the first step in your career journey."

These students will be placed with one of more than 100 businesses for a summer internship that pays $12 an hour and will have them spending 100 hours over the next six weeks, honing their existing skills and growing new ones. For more information on strive san jose, click here.
