Beth Shafran-Mukai is the Director of a Human Resources Operations at El Camino Hospital; a 443-bed, acute-care, nonprofit and locally governed organization with campuses in Mountain View and Los Gatos, California. El Camino Hospital is best known as The Hospital of Silicon Valley, for its commitment to the community it serves through personalized quality care and advanced medical technology.

She has lived in downtown San Jose for over twenty years in the historic Naglee Park neighborhood, and over the years has been very involved in neighborhood advocacy, served as the president of her neighborhood association, represented the community on a multi-year oversight committee during downtown redevelopment, and was the founding chair of the San Jose Neighborhoods Commission. She and her husband Conrad enjoy living in downtown San Jose, appreciating its arts, culture, and vibrant city life.

Beth is also involved in the Human Resources professional community, and is a Board Member of the Santa Clara chapter of the Northern California Human Resources Association. She holds Bachelors or Arts in Humanities with a Certification in Business Management, and a Juris Doctor degree. She also maintains three Human Resources professional certifications; Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the Human Resources Certification Institute, Senior Certified Professional from the Society for Human Resources Management, and Strategic Human Resources Business Partner from the Human Capital Institute. 

She looks forward to learning from City Staff, her peers in the Leadership San Jose cohort, and other Resources; and to together creating a project which will benefit neighborhoods and local business.
