Name: John Tang

Company: San Jose Water Company

John Tang is Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and Government Relations for San Jose Water.  His career spans more than 23 years in the areas of environmental engineering and public affairs. 

John is currently responsible for leading the company‚Äôs regulatory affairs, corporate communications, and government relations programs. 

Previously employed by FMC Corporation, hemanaged the remediation of a diverse portfolio of contaminated industrial facilities, including State and Federal Superfund sites, in the United States and Canada.

Johnholds BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering from San Jose State University and an MBA from Columbia University.  He is a licensed Professional Engineer in California.

Active in the community, John is a member of the San Jose Rotary Club, serves on the Board of the Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council of the Boy Scouts of America, andis a Trustee for the Silicon Valley Organization‚Äôs Political Action Committee.  He is also an Adjunct Professor in the College of Engineering at San Jose State University. 

John and his wife Sachiereside in Cupertino with their two boys, Ryan, 12, and Eric, 10.  In their spare time, they volunteer with the Cub Scouts, PTA, and other school activities.

Restaurant Revitalization Fund
Restaurant Revitalization Fund is an SBA grant program that will provide restaurants, bars, and other similar places of business that serve food or drink with funding equal to their pandemic-related revenue loss up to $10 million per business and no more than $5 million per physical location. Recipients are NOT required to repay the funding as long as funds are used for eligible uses no later than March 11, 2023.

Changes to Paycheck Protection Program and Second Draw PPP Loan
At the end of 2020, Congress passed, and President Trump signed, a new law that provides for additional relief related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This law, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (CAA, 2021), includes a second draw of Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans (PPP Second Draw Loans) and updates to the original PPP loan. It also allows businesses to deduct ordinary and necessary expenses paid from the proceeds of PPP loans.
