Tara Dowdell is a successful business and marketing professional who delivers new products and value propositions to targeted markets. With nearly two decades at Corning Incorporated commercializing new technologies, Tara is experienced in building relationships and closing deals with small to large organizations including Fortune 500 companies like Microsoft and Samsung.

In 2009, Tara started her own small business to try her hand at going from mind to market. Things have gone well, and she continues to run this vacation rental business which has now expanded into commercial real estate investment. In 2016, following a 10-year expatriate assignment in China, Tara decided it was time to jump off the corporate ladder and focus on the next exciting chapter. She has navigated her landing into the world of non-profit management where she is having exciting new adventures in advocacy, program development, fundraising and member mobilization.

Tara’s goal for participating in the Leadership San Jose Cohort Experience is to learn more about non-profit activity in the area and find opportunities to serve and give back to the community.

Tara holds a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from the University of Central Lancashire, England and a Masters of Science in International Marketing from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland. She is currently enjoying further professional education through U.C. Davis, in Fundraising and Development.

Born in the United Kingdom, Tara is a married mother of three children and active member her local church, Union Church of Cupertino.

Restaurant Revitalization Fund
Restaurant Revitalization Fund is an SBA grant program that will provide restaurants, bars, and other similar places of business that serve food or drink with funding equal to their pandemic-related revenue loss up to $10 million per business and no more than $5 million per physical location. Recipients are NOT required to repay the funding as long as funds are used for eligible uses no later than March 11, 2023.

Changes to Paycheck Protection Program and Second Draw PPP Loan
At the end of 2020, Congress passed, and President Trump signed, a new law that provides for additional relief related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This law, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (CAA, 2021), includes a second draw of Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans (PPP Second Draw Loans) and updates to the original PPP loan. It also allows businesses to deduct ordinary and necessary expenses paid from the proceeds of PPP loans.
