How long has your business been a part of The SVO?
The company I represent has been a member for 6 months but I’ve been involved over 10 years.
Why is it important to your business to be a part of The SVO?
Networking with many people and different businesses. I enjoy being able to help and connect people.
What was your first job like?
I worked in a pizza place. It was tons of fun and I met different people every day. The crew was also a lot fun to work with. I had so many responsibilities but my favorite was getting the party room ready for little kids birthday parties.
Describe your current job.
I still get to meet different people every day and help plan events. However, I’m helping building owners and facility managers or anyone responsible for the safety of their building plan for their required periodic testing on both the fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
What has been a career high point for you thus far?
Every time I’m acknowledged for my hard work and dedication, it feels like the “high point”. It reminds me that I enjoy what I do, whether it’s during my volunteerism in different organizations or within the company I’m representing.
What words of advice can you share for other professional women working in the Silicon Valley?
Being in a male dominated industry I made it a priority to become a subject matter expert as I wanted to be taken serious. Education and certifications in your field do help validate your knowledge. I also suggest finding many mentors of all types, even the young ones. They’ll help us understand and adapt to the changes of society.
