San Jose, CA – Blach Construction, a full-service and award-winning commercial builder serving the Greater Bay Area and Monterey since 1970, congratulates Vice President, Business Development and Marketing Kim Scott on her recognition as a 2019 Silicon Valley Business Journal “40 Under 40” honoree. Scott accepted the award at a reception at San Jose’s Club Auto Sport on July 25 alongside 39 other outstanding young professional and community leaders.

“Kim is an invaluable asset to our team and a highly respected force in Bay Area construction,” said Blach President Dan Rogers. “She has deservedly advanced very quickly in her career here at Blach, a testament to her mastery of technical construction, creative problem-solving, keen business sense and trusted relationships with clients, colleagues and partners alike. She embodies the word ‘leader’ in her professional role, as well as within our community.”

Dedicating her 15-year career to Blach, Scott began in the field as a project engineer and was quickly promoted to project manager. She then transitioned into business development, excelling in her role as director of education services and successfully growing the company’s largest market, which accounts for more than 50% of annual revenue. Currently, as vice president of business development and marketing, Scott oversees project pursuits in the education, mixed-use, institutional and workplace sectors, leveraging expertise that spans a variety of project types and delivery methods. She excels at managing cross-functional teams and is highly adept at understanding clients’ diverse needs. Taking a holistic approach to each project, she identifies and subsequently delivers uniquely tailored solutions that always meet and often exceed client expectations. She was instrumental in the launch of Folia, Blach’s innovative, pre-engineered building solution, and stays abreast of current legislation affecting public construction, diligently working to educate her clients, partners and colleagues accordingly.

Scott is extremely involved in her industry and community and belongs to several industry organizations, including the Coalition for Adequate School Housing (CASH) and the Community College Facility Coalition (CCFC). Additionally, she holds board positions on the California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO), Northern Section, the national, education industry publication School Construction News, and the Stellar Academy for Dyslexics, where she is looked to for guidance in continuing to advance professional standards and education throughout the Greater Bay Area. In recognition of leadership in her field and community impact, she received the prestigious “Tribute to Women and Industry” (TWIN) Award from the YWCA Silicon Valley in 2017.

Scott earned her B.S. in civil engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. She resides in Fremont with her husband John and their two sons.

New Loan Fund to Provide Important Lifeline to California Small Businesses in Need
Starting November 20, 2020 Governor Newsom launched the California Rebuilding Fund, which includes non-forgivable loans for micro-business owners backed by the iBank at 4.25%. The California Rebuilding Fund is a loan program to support California’s small businesses—especially those located in economically disadvantaged and historically under-banked areas of the state. Businesses who employed 50 or less full-time equivalent employees (FTEs) and had gross revenues of less than $2.5 million or below in 2019 are eligible to apply. Full eligibility requirements are included in the Business Requirements tab.
