Dear SVO Members,

We invite you to join The Valley Transportation Authority’s (VTA) Get On Board campaign in increasing awareness of and support for public transportation.

We encourage you to ask your employees to become green commuters by choosing alternative forms of transportation whenever possible. Waze and Scoop are also providing 5 free complimentary rides to first time users of their ride sharing apps.

Matt Mahood, The SVO’s President & CEO, joins various elected officials and company executives for a press conference on Thursday April 25, 2019 to promote the Get On Board campaign.

Here are a few statistics of transportation issues in the Valley:

  • In the past decade alone, commuter times have increased by 20% which equates to 50 minutes weekly or 43 hours annually
  • In 2017 alone, 6.5% of local employees, roughly 95,000 people, spent more than three hours commuting to and from work on a daily basis
  • Traffic delays cost $2.7 billion in annual loss in productivity

Imagine the possibilities if each of The SVO’s 1,200 members’ more than 300,000 Silicon Valley employees chose to use more public transit.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and we hope you can share this media with your employees.

Sincerely,

Matthew R. Mahood

President & CEO

CA's Newest Framework & Guidelines to Reopening Businesses
Gov. Gavin Newsom unveiled a new system to monitor the coronavirus in California, revamping the state’s watchlist for its 58 counties into color-coded levels that should simplify the process of reopening. This new system, also known as "CA's Blueprint for a Safer Economy" is the next evolution of the state's COVID-19 response. Every county is now assigned to a color tier based on its rate of new cases & positivity to determine which sectors can operate. Here on this new site you can type in your county and look up what activity is allowed. Under this new framework, hair salons, barbershops and indoor malls are allowed to operate indoors under the state's new system, but only at 25% capacity as of August 31.
