From the Office of Economic Development:

The City of San Jos√© Office of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the Center for Cultural Innovation (CCI), is pleased to announce that the guidelines for the 6th round of the Creative Industries Incentive Fund (CIIF) are now available here.

CIIF provides project support to arts-based commercial businesses involved in the production or distribution of the arts. Incentive awards between $2,000 – $8,000 are for creative industries of all types, such as manufacturers, service providers, presenters, and designers, among others.

Last year, CIIF expanded to include a new funding category targeted specifically at arts businesses in San José serving as cultural anchors and catalysts in their neighborhoods. This place-based expansion is in response to a growing number of applications to CIIF from neighborhood-based arts businesses as well as nomadic enterprises seeking physical space to anchor themselves in a specific neighborhood. The requests have ranged from storefront improvements to neighborhood activation. The new category, Category 2: CIIF Place-Based, will offer awards between $2,000 – $8,000.

The deadline for receipt of applications is 5:00 p.m. (PST) on March 12, 2018 for projects completed between May 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019.

If you are interested in applying for Round 6, there will be an INFORMATION SESSION on Friday, February 9, 2018 from noon to 1 p.m. at San Jos√© City Hall, 200 E Santa Clara Street, San Jos√©, CA 95113.  PLEASE RSVP TO arlene.biala@sanjoseca.gov or (408) 793-4332.

For information on submitting a grant application contact the Center for Cultural Innovation‚Äôs Bay Area Program Director, Laura Poppiti at ciif@cciarts.org or by phone 415.288.0530

San José is the 10th largest city in the United States, yet it is stuck in the 1980’s with a management structure more suited for small cities. In times of crisis, we need government to be nimble, responsive, and accountable to the community for results and to bring local government into the 21st century. As we face the greatest series of crises in our lifetime – a global pandemic and the deepest economic recession since the great recession – we must have the people’s choice, an elected Accountable Mayor, be directly responsible for the city.
