As our Councilmember, Lan Diep is bringing accountability to City Hall by:

  • Requiring that future surplus revenue go into a rainy day fund to be used during a budget deficit or in case of emergency
  • Creating greater transparency with an independent oversight commission to review spending from city ballot measure revenue
  • Mandating regular audits of key city departments to identify savings

Lan Diep says our government needs to get better before it asks us to pay more.

Politician David Cohen Is Helping Bureaucrats Get Raises (even if it means cutting lunch programs for our kids).

Politician David Cohen supports one tax after another, including the largest property tax increase in California history. His record shows where the money will go.

Cohen supports amending Proposition 13, the law that protects seniors, homeowners and struggling small businesses from skyrocketing property taxes. Changing the law will drive up the already expensive cost of living for San Jose families. [1]

Cohen supported big raises for bureaucrats. In 2014, Cohen voted to approve a 7.81% pay raise for all management staff. [2] He also billed Berryessa taxpayers $2,500 for hotel and travel expenses to attend a conference in San Francisco, an easily drivable distance from his home in San Jose. [3]

Cohen even went so far as to raise school lunch prices and then gave highly paid administrators a raise. As a member of the Berryessa school board, Cohen voted twice to balance budgets by raising school lunch prices for underserved children in his district. [4]
