The current term of the South Bay seat on the Governing Board of the San Francisco Bay Restoration Authority will end in March 2017 and will be filled following a nomination process.
The San Francisco Bay Restoration Authority is a regional government entity, created in 2008 with jurisdiction extending throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Its mission is to raise and allocate funds for the restoration, enhancement, protection and enjoyment of wetlands and wildlife in the San Francisco Bay and along its shoreline.
In June of 2016 Bay Area voters approved a regional parcel tax expected to generate $25 million per year for 20 years for this purpose. More information about the Restoration Authority is available at http://sfbayrestore.org/board-documents.php
The Restoration Authority is governed by a board consisting of seven members appointed by the Association of Bay Area Governments. Those eligible for appointment to the South Bay seat on the Governing Board are elected officials of a South Bay city or county that touches the San Francisco Bay. The South Bay consists of Santa Clara County, the portion of Alameda County that is south of the southern boundary of the City of Hayward, and the portion of San Mateo County that is south of the northern boundary of Redwood City.
