The San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Oxnard Chamber of Commerce announced their endorsements of Proposition 54, a statewide initiative on the November 2016 ballot that will rein in the power of special interests and give voters a stronger voice in the State Legislature.

“The San Diego Regional Chamber supports Proposition 54 to help ensure all Californians have access to their legislative process and are provided the opportunity to weigh in on the important issues that impact them,” said Jerry Sanders, President and CEO of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce.

“Prop. 54 will ensure the time and opportunity for all Californians to properly review and comment on proposed laws, resulting in better policies for our state,” said Matthew Mahood, President and CEO of the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Proposition 54 will require all legislation to be in print and publicly posted online in its final form at least 72 hours before it may pass out of either house of the State Legislature, require all open legislative meetings to be audiovisual recorded and posted online within 24 hours, and grant all individuals the right to record and share videos of public legislative proceedings.

The diverse coalition in support of Prop 54 includes the League of Women Voters of California, California State Conference of the NAACP, League of California Cities, California Common Cause, California Forward, California Chamber of Commerce, National Federation of Independent Business/CA, Small Business Action Committee, Latin Business Association, California Business Roundtable, California Planning and Conservation League, Californians Aware, First Amendment Coalition, Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, CalTax, and many others.
