Last Tuesday, The silicon valley organization co-hosted a LinkedIn & Social Media Branding Workshop with State Senator Bob Wieckowski, who represents California‚Äôs 10th Senate District.

“This workshop will assist local business owners to develop the skills and techniques necessary to build a strong brand and raise their visibility on LinkedIn,” Wieckowski said. “Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and in a competitive environment being able to fully use these tools can help these companies grow.”

The workshop focused on strategies to build a strong professional brand for small businesses and entrepreneurs. The goal is to provide small businesses with the tools to develop online marketing tactics and to increase their business relationships through networking.

Small businesses are the backbone of Silicon Valley’s regional economy and The SVO continues to support them through 150+ events/workshops each year.

Of The SVO's 1,400 member businesses, 80% are small and medium-sized businesses. To put this into perspective, there are over 38,000 small businesses in San Jose with over 3.8 million in the State of California.

“Workshops like these provide our small business community with the vital resources needed to remain relevant in our 21st century economy,” said Matt Mahood, The SVO President & CEO.

Wondering how you can help during this time? Social distancing doesn't mean social isolation. We still need to support the nonprofits in our region who are continuing to provide critical services to the people of our community day and night—ensuring our most vulnerable populations are being housed, fed and cared for. However, they could really use our help in a number of ways: donating extra supplies, offering your time as a volunteer or through any generous donations in order to sustain themselves.
