October 24,2019 | Press Release

San José, CA– On Thursday October 24, 2019, The Silicon Valley Organization (The SVO) Political Action Committee (PAC) (FPPC #820668) endorsed Jim Zito for San José City Council District 8 in the March 3, 2020 primary election.

Jim has been a resident of District 8 for over 30 years. He currently serves as an elected Board Trustee of the Evergreen Elementary School District. Jim has also served as an appointed Planning Commissioner, Envision San José 2040 General Plan Task Force member, Evergreen/East Hills Visioning Task Force member, and as the first President of the District 8 Community Round Table. Jim’s priorities for San Jose include increasing housing supply at all income levels, addressing homelessness and investing in transit infrastructure.

“Jim’s extensive public policy background demonstrates his deep understanding of the most challenging issues facing San Jose. He understands that in order to address our unprecedented housing crisis, we need to streamline San Jose’s permitting processes and significantly accelerate housing production. Jim also understands that San Jose has a jobs crisis and that the City can increase its property tax revenue by attracting more businesses to fund vital city services like hiring more police officers and firefighters, fixing potholes, and enhancing transit infrastructure” said Matthew R. Mahood, President & CEO of The SVO.

In addition to the SVO PAC’s endorsement, Jim has already secured endorsements from San Jose Councilmember Johnny Khamis, Evergreen School District Board President Bonnie Mace, Evergreen School District Board Trustees Chris Corpus and former Trustee Balaji Venkatraman.
