Although we never like to see good people move on, this particular announcement has significant upside for The SVO – in both the short and long-run!

Today, we are announcing that effective October 1, Victor Gomez, Senior Director of Public Policy & Advocacy, will be transitioning out of his full-time role and into a consulting role with The SVO.  In this new role, Victor will focus on the advocacy and public policy needs of our members located outside the City of San Jose, specifically on those issues that affect business in our neighboring communities.

Mr. Gomez, in addition to his role at The SVO, is the President of Pinnacle Strategy, a government affairs, lobbying and campaign management business based in Hollister, California, where he resides with his family. He has previously served on the Hollister City Council, and as Mayor.

Since hiring Victor in early 2016, he has been an invaluable member of our team and has taken our public policy portfolio and political action to new levels of professionalism and effectiveness.  It is no surprise with his passion and skill for pro-business advocacy that his own business, Pinnacle Strategy, has achieved such early growth.  We congratulate Victor heartily on that success, and while we are disappointed to lose him in his current role, we are extremely excited to be able to continue to work with him in this new capacity.

A search has begun to hire a new Director of Public Policy & Advocacy to replace Mr. Gomez, with the intention of having the right individual in place on October 1.

Please join me in congratulating Victor in this new role and the success of his own firm.

Wondering how you can help during this time? Social distancing doesn't mean social isolation. We still need to support the nonprofits in our region who are continuing to provide critical services to the people of our community day and night—ensuring our most vulnerable populations are being housed, fed and cared for. However, they could really use our help in a number of ways: donating extra supplies, offering your time as a volunteer or through any generous donations in order to sustain themselves.
