On behalf of The Silicon Valley Organization (The SVO), we are writing to support Mayor Liccardo’s memorandum to approve recommendations outlined in the city’s report to authorize the City Manager to execute an MOU with Adobe Systems, Inc.

By way of background, we are the Silicon Valley‚Äôs premier business advocacy organization representing 1,400+ companies that employ nearly 300,000 workers and we represent our membership as the region‚Äôs largest Chamber of Commerce. We urge the City Council to support an economic development opportunity that will add an additional 3,000 jobs to our community.

The SVO has long been a champion of economic development opportunities that will sustain job growth throughout the Silicon Valley. Adobe’s expansion and investment plans will add a 4th high-rise tower and another pedestrian bridge that will connect the new tower to their existing campus.

The SVO is optimistic that Adobe‚Äôs expansion will provide an opportunity to further spur Downtown San Jose‚Äôs growth and put San Jose on the map as a Destination City.

For these reasons, we respectfully ask for your support and approval of council agenda item 4.5 to allow the City Manager to execute a non-binding MOU with Adobe Systems, Inc. to expand their campus and to add more jobs to San Jose.

Wondering how you can help during this time? Social distancing doesn't mean social isolation. We still need to support the nonprofits in our region who are continuing to provide critical services to the people of our community day and night—ensuring our most vulnerable populations are being housed, fed and cared for. However, they could really use our help in a number of ways: donating extra supplies, offering your time as a volunteer or through any generous donations in order to sustain themselves.
