On behalf of the Silicon Valley Chamber Coalition representing 16 Chambers of Commerce throughout Santa Clara County, we strongly urge you to approve the sale of St. Louise and O’Connor Hospitals to the County of Santa Clara.

These two hospitals play a critical role with regards to healthcare services in the County, particularly in San Jose and South County (Morgan Hill, San Martin and Gilroy), especially for those in the community who are disadvantaged. South County has more than 110,000 residents who rely on St. Louise Hospital and De Paul Health Center. The absence of these facilities would be a devastating blow to the region.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that between now and 2024, the healthcare industry will grow faster and add more jobs than any other sector. San Jose and South County have a great opportunity to benefit from the potential surge in additional healthcare related jobs. This will allow these medical facilities to continue providing necessary services to residents, benefit employees, contribute to the local economy and assist the community at large.

We urge you to approve the Hospital Sale agreement to move our region and economy forward.

Wondering how you can help during this time? Social distancing doesn't mean social isolation. We still need to support the nonprofits in our region who are continuing to provide critical services to the people of our community day and night—ensuring our most vulnerable populations are being housed, fed and cared for. However, they could really use our help in a number of ways: donating extra supplies, offering your time as a volunteer or through any generous donations in order to sustain themselves.
