As part of the 60th anniversary sister city celebration, a business delegation from the Okayama Chamber of Commerce and Industry made up of 10 business and government leaders visited The SVO.

The San Jose-Okayama sister city affiliation is the third oldest in the U.S.

The delegation, visiting San Jose April 21-23,  included Mr. Akira Okazaki, Okayama Chamber of Commerce Chairman and Mr. Kuniaki Takahashi, President. The visit offered the Okayama Chamber a chance to learn about The SVO, the economic development work taking place here and vice-versa, as well as an opportunity to exchange opinions about future interaction.

We shared details about our four lines of business:

The Okayama Chamber of Commerce, in turn, shared their areas of focus, including:

  • Support for management
  • Event for revitalization of Okayama city
  • Promotion of brand recognition
  • Advocacy

COVID-19 Nonprofit Resources
Wondering how you can help during this time? Social distancing doesn't mean social isolation. We still need to support the nonprofits in our region who are continuing to provide critical services to the people of our community day and night—ensuring our most vulnerable populations are being housed, fed and cared for. However, they could really use our help in a number of ways: donating extra supplies, offering your time as a volunteer or through any generous donations in order to sustain themselves.
