The Silicon Valley Organization stands in solidarity with all Americans who are speaking out, taking action and seeking change in the wake of the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis and the countless others who have needlessly lost their lives due to racism, hatred and brutality

We mourn with our community members who are afraid, frustrated and fed up with the institutional racism so deeply rooted in our country. The SVO denounces racism in all of its forms and condemns all racially motivated brutality, murder and hate crimes.

The SVO supports and believes that every American has the right to express their opinions – to protest in public, peacefully and without fear of retribution or harm.

One of our goals as an organization is a thriving community – and that can only happen when the whole community has equal opportunity and is treated with compassion and respect. As business and community leaders, we must all make a conscious effort to do better and to be better. We must recognize our own prejudices and look to challenge our old ways of thinking.

We would like to start by providing you with resources that will provoke thoughtful dialogue and perhaps encourage you to put your thoughts into action.

Additionally we will be highlighting organizations that are already doing great work in bringing our community together in hopes of helping to amplify their message and mission.

We encourage you to start off by reading this article from former President Obama, which includes actionable steps that we can all take. We know that many times the weight of a long standing, systemic issue can feel overwhelming however let’s not be paralyzed with indecision, but be determined to make a better community for everyone.
