Meriwest Credit Union Sponsors over $1 Million in Affordable Housing and COVID-19 Pandemic Relief Grants for local NonProfits
Meriwest, one of Silicon Valley’s Premier Credit Unions sponsored grants through the Federal Home Loan Bank to support projects of two Community Based Nonprofits. The Credit Union also provided additional support to local charities to assist them in meeting the needs of their clients during the pandemic. Meriwest sponsored a grant of $1,055,000.00 for CityTeam San Jose through the Federal Home Loan Bank’s Affordable Housing Program. This project will renovate an existing transitional housing and emergency shelter for homeless and low income residents. It will also provide meals and improve the financial mobility of residents through financial educational workshops.

Awesome San José Fall Grant Winner
Awesome San José is pleased to announce that the Fall Grant winner is San José Strong’s Queer Homecoming. San José Strong received our $1,000 grant on November 10th and the grant money will be used to help fund the Queer Homecoming event. San José Strong’s Queer Homecoming will be streaming online on November 21st, and will feature an array of local comics, drag performances and more.

County of Santa Clara Moves Into State’s Orange Tier - Revised Risk Reduction Order Will Allow Resumption of Additional Businesses and Activities Wednesday, October 14
Today, the County of Santa Clara moved into the State of California’s Orange Tier (Tier 3). The Public Health Officer’s new Revised Risk Reduction Order (issued October 5) will go into effect October 14 at 12:01 a.m., which allows additional services in the County to operate, in accordance with the State order. Changes include allowing indoor dining and indoor gatherings, with limitations, and capacity increases for museums, zoos and retail operations.

Winter is Coming: Doordash, San José Mayor's Office, and The Silicon Valley Organization Announce Grants to Help San José Restaurants Winterize
DoorDash, in partnership with the Office of the Mayor and The Silicon Valley Organization, today announced a new grant program to help San José restaurants prepare for colder weather and continue to serve customers throughout the winter. The grants in San José are part of a $2 million effort in select cities across the country to help restaurants safely continue providing service as the weather gets cold.
