2019 Leadership San Jose: Joe Mello
Joe was born and raised in San Jose. He went to Archbishop Mitty High School, and then Santa Clara University where he graduated with a B.S. in Biology. Joe began his career at the Water District as a Maintenance Worker I in the flood control division. As his career progressed, he moved over to the Water Utility Division were he now supervises the maintenance team at Penitencia Water Treatment Plant.

Cat Cvengros is Vice President of Development and Marketing for Second Harvest Food Bank. Since joining in 2017, she has led efforts to increase annual operating revenues by 9 percent, and 27 percent for children’s programs. She has a passion for ending the cycle of poverty and 15 years experience matching donors’ philanthropic interests with the needs of the community.Cat is excited to be in the Leadership San Jose 2019 Class because she loves to know her community and celebrate it. She also believes that only together can we find solutions that fit many instead of just a few.

She has worked with a broad range of stakeholders to develop content for everything from management sites to newsletters and videos. She has been published in The New York Times, Fortune, The Mercury News, Stanford Social Innovation Review, Palo Alto Weekly, and other publications—and is the editor of the Cybersecurity Career Guide.
