Nominations are now open for the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce’s 20th annual Excellence in Education Awards.
The awards, honoring a Student, Teacher and Principal of the Year, will be given out at the SJSV Chamber’s Legends and Leaders event takes place Thursday, Dec. 8 at The Fairmont San Jose. As part of the SJSV Chamber’s biggest event of the year, honorees will be present to accept their award along with an educational grant from the SJSV Chamber’s Foundation. Over the course of the program’s history, these grants have totaled more than $80,000.
“This is one of my favorite events of the year as I have the privilege and honor to introduce our recipients to a room full of nearly 1,200 Silicon Valley professionals and hand them a grant to further their hard work,” SJSV Chamber President & CEO Matt Mahood said. “These students and educators have a direct impact on the region’s economy: as the future workforce, and, in many cases, as our future leaders, and we are thrilled to let the greater community know about their fantastic work.”
The EIE awards first began in 1996 and recognize students, teachers and administrators within the County of Santa Clara that embody the SJSV Chamber’s spirit of acting as a convener, connector, collaborator and champion within their community.
Current students, teachers and principals at Santa Clara County schools are eligible to nominate though self-nominations are not permitted. Students must be in their senior year of high school with a projected graduation date of Spring 2017.
