The silicon valley organization had the honor of welcoming Ireland’s Lord Mayor Brendan Carr, Dublin Chamber CEO Mary Rose Burke, and their delegation to The SVO offices this week.
The delegation was organized by the San Jose Dublin Sister City Program to develop civic, cultural, and economic ties between San Jose and Dublin and Silicon Valley to Ireland.
After a delicious breakfast catered by Team San Jose, our President & CEO Matt Mahood welcomed the delegation and shared how The SVO is changing the game in Silicon Valley by focusing on our mission to promote a robust and sustainable regional economy through our four lines of business:
Present in the audience that morning was Chair of the Dublin Ireland Sister City, Sean O’Kane and Joe Hedges from City of San Jose, as well as The SVO Board Chair Dan Bozzutto, board members Tracey Enfantino, Mike Fox, Jr. and Dennis King as well as former SJSV Chamber CEO Jim Cunneen. Along with these SVO board members, Jim Hogan, from Team Hogan, gave the delegation a behind the scenes look into what he calls the “4 Industrial Revolution” and how the Internet of Things is going to impact the global economy.
Jim explained how his organization has identified four key sectors they feel will be the most impacted by this wave which include; healthcare, education, energy, and security. How we engage around this development, Jim explained, will have a profound impact on the way we interact with the world.
After Jim’s remarks people had an opportunity to network with the Irish delegation before they were off to their next meeting.
Stay tuned for more information about incoming delegations!
