2017 leadership san jose: Jim Westbury

Jim Westbury

Name: Jim Westbury

Company: Technology Credit Union

Jim Westbury is passionate about the importance education plays with opening opportunities for the betterment of an individual’s life and the communities they live.

As the Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis at Technology Credit Union, Jim has actively participated in strengthening the partnership with San Jose State University by volunteering to speak on the career day panel, couch and mentor students through mock interviews, and present educational workshops to the Financial Management Association.

The last five consecutive years, Jim volunteered and mentored under-resourced high school students at Breakthrough Silicon Valley, teaching them financial literacy concepts developed by (the former) GLOW Foundation.

Lastly, Jim was inspired by the selfless generosity of his grandparents and parents in their dream to ensure he and his sister obtained an undergraduate degree. In honor of their sacrifices, Jim decided to continue “paying it forward” by establishing the Westbury-Buck Endowed LGBT Scholarship Fund at Michigan State University.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from Michigan State University, Jim furthered his education by graduating with a Master’s of Science in Finance from Walsh College. Jim is a fourteen-year resident of Santa Clara, and he enjoys traveling, photography, cooking, wine tasting, waterskiing, downhill skiing, music, and movies.
