Guest Post: Team San Jose's 3 Things to Fall in Love With San Jose

What began as the Valley of the Hearts Delight, known for its agriculture and acres of fresh produce, has now become synonymous with the future. San Jose, the Capital of Silicon Valley, is known as the most future ready city in the United States (Dell).

While we’ve long been a renowned agricultural area, and more recently, a tech-centric business and meeting destination with such events as Silicon Valley Comic Con, Facebook’s F8 and more, we are just starting to be discovered as a leisure destination, and now are known by TripAdvisor as one of the top 30 destinations to visit in the U.S.

The Heart of San Jose

The heart of San Jose is its diverse people. San Jose has 17 neighborhoods ranging from Little Portugal and Little Saigon to Willow Glen. Visitors can take in the murals and street arts of one of the last three remaining Japantown or settle down for a traditional Italian dish at Paesano’s in Little Italy. There’s even a chance to enjoy the bay at the historic bayside neighborhood of Alviso, steeped in rich history as the original shipping hub in Santa Clara Valley. For activities in each of our neighborhoods, visit www.sanjose.org/neighborhoods.

Adventure is Afoot

San Jose is an outdoor adventurer’s dream, consistently ranked as one of the healthiest cities in America. We are surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty that can be taken in while hiking under the redwoods at Big Basin or strolling through metropolitan parks like the Rose Garden. We boast more than 300 days of sunshine and over a hundred parks to enjoy them in! With over 53 miles of trails, any level of hiker can find stunning views and a great work out. One of our favorites is Almaden Quicksilver County Park. Known for its 135 year old mining history, this park has 4,000 acres of stunning greenery and natural wildlife. Adega Team San Jose

San Jose is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the nation, and you can taste that diversity in our food. It’s easy to find something new to try while you’re here, with samples of Vietnamese, Portuguese, Indian and Greek food. Our celebrated foodie scene is led by ADEGA Restaurant, San Jose’s first Michelin star. Founded by chef-couple Jessica Carreira and David Costa, the eatery found in Little Portugal is delectable. Known for its fresh catches, you’ll find a beautiful blend of traditional and modern cooking, and the largest collection of Portuguese Wine in the world (outside of Portugal of course).  For a full list of awesome #SanJoseEats, check out https://www.sanjose.org/restaurants.
