Free outdoor movies in St. James Park each third Saturday this summer

Fun and games precedes screenings of four family favorites

SAN JOSE, CA – Starlight Cinemas presents four family movie classics at St. James Park.

Movies are shown at dusk on the third Saturday of the month, June through September. and preceded by fun and games. All Starlight Cinemas events are free.

The lineup includes:

  • June 16:  Princess Bride, the fantasy-adventure-comedy-romance film classic directed by Rob Reiner and featuring an all-star cast. (Film starts about 8:30 p.m.)
  • July 21:  The Sandlot, comedy-drama - “Follow your heart kid, and you’ll never go wrong.” Timing for this screening could not be better, with Major League Baseball celebrating the film’s 25th anniversary this season.   • Aug. 18:  Coco, the highly-rated fantasy-mystery 2017 release by Disney-Pixar - An aspiring musician enters the Land of the Dead to find his great-great-grandfather, a legendary singer, in hopes of bringing music back into his family. (Film starts about 8 p.m.)
  • Sept. 15:  E.T., sci-fi-fantasy – Follow the little Extra Terrestrial on his journey home. It’s Spielberg plus aliens plus kids protecting the little one from big mean grownups equals a lot of fun. (Film starts about 7:15 p.m.)

 

San Jose Downtown Association produces Starlight Cinemas on behalf of the City of San Jose Parks, recreation and Neighborhood Services, which has an entire slate of events scheduled for Summer in St. James Park.

Movie-goers are encouraged to bring a sweater or sweatshirt and blankets or chair to sit on.
