The Silicon Valley Organization today joined more than 300 state and local business associations from across all 50 states in expressing its support for a modernized North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and urging the Trump administration to “do no harm” as negotiations continue.
On behalf of The silicon valley organization (The SVO), our 65 member board of directors and our 1,400 member businesses, we were heartened to hear your commitment to rebuild America one railway, road, and bridge at a time.
While the BRIDGE Act does not provide a pathway to citizenship it does allow immigrants to continue contributing to the American economy. This temporary three-year legislative fix would allow hard working immigrants to continue working, paying taxes, buying homes, taking out loans, and enrolling in our education systems. These factors translate into state revenue, increased consumer purchasing power, and a healthy robust workforce.
Silicon Valley is the global capital of innovation. This is not just a catch phrase. Here we innovate, we don’t replicate; we lead, we don’t follow. You, as a successful businessman, can easily judge our region and state by the results: California has a GDP of $2.5 trillion, represents 10% of the national population (and 14% of its GDP), and if it were separate nation would be the seventh largest GDP in the world (greater than France, India and Italy).
