The Silicon Valley Organization Board of Directors voted this week to take positions on four ballot measures in the upcoming 2018 November elections.
AB 1565 proposes to accelerate the salary increases by requiring all employers to pay an exempt employee a minimum of $47,472 on January 1, 2018.
Under this mandate, an amusement park, private health care facilities, transit drivers, etc., all who have positions with access to vulnerable populations such as children and the elderly, would not be allowed to inquire into whether an applicant had any felony convictions for sexual assault or abuse of minors, if an individual was convicted more than seven years ago.
This bill would place an initiative on the ballot asking voters to repeal Proposition 12 (1949). Should the voters choose to repeal, the Legislature can take action on a follow-up bill that would set California to year-round daylight saving time with federal government approval.
